A Stitcher’s Prayer

This prayer was inspired by Bargello Needlepoint Challenge designs from Day 33 and Day 34.

In the midst of stitching Day 33, my sister phoned to say that she could envision God guiding my hands and the needle as I stitch–like one guides a child to make a letter for the first time, or to draw circles and lines.

Such Inspiration! I couldn’t get the picture out of my mind, and before I knew it, I had stopped stitching and began to write this prayer. After completing Day 34′s design, I finished the prayer.

A Stitcher’s Prayer

Thank You LORD for such a bountiful “stash”,
That keeps me from having to stop and dash
To shop and spend a lot of cash
For needlepoint supplies that will last
Through my latest stitching binge and blast.

Thank You LORD for letting me see the colored thread.
Your Spirit guides my hands as I stitch with bowed head,
And prayerfully work with mind and heart reverently led,
To write Bargello Needlepoint posts that can be read.

Thank You LORD for filling my heart and mind,
As Your creativity invades and unwinds,
Surrounding me and helping me find,
Colors and Bargello patterns that combine.

Thank You LORD for wealth untold,
In time and health to stitch free-fold.
‘Though I live to be over 100 years old
Like my grandmother, inspired and bold;
I will ever cherish Your Gift and aim for the Goal;
And encourage others to stitch three-fold.

For apart from You…I can do no-thing! AMEN

I am blessed that God, The Master Craftsman, has filled me with the ability to work skillfully with my hands.
