While commenting on a Bargello Needlepoint post about the Georgia Tech University Feurst Center for the Arts Japanese Embroidery Exhibit, a reader asked if I would share a picture of my entry after the exhibit closed. Now that the embroidery has been safely returned to me, I happily include a picture of it in this post.
The Japanese embroidery piece is called “Around The Cosmos”. It has special meaning for me. The cords depict the completeness and wholeness of circles. There are no beginnings or endpoints–just infinity. There’s something eternal about them. The small motifs within the circles symbolize various aspects of life.
I stitched the embroidery on rainbow colored gold silk fabric, which makes me think of God’s promise, “I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth” (Genesis 9:13).
Both Japanese Embroidery and Bargello needlepoint offer my hands a chance to be the exit of my spirit.

What a lovely piece this is. I especially enjoyed reading all the meaning behind it. Truly beautiful. Thank you so much!
Hello Jane, I thoroughly enjoyed stitching it, and Mr. Tamura, my Japanese embroidery master, encouraged and guided me all the way. Althea
THANK YOU!
It is lovely, especially after you explained some of the meaning behind the designs.
