Remember Henry VIII in Bargello needlepoint?
The first installment, which features the step, carpet, floor and Henry’s feet is finally completed.
This section of the hand-painted canvas is 16″ wide by 5 1/2″ long.
At Henry’s Bargello Feet
Snapshot of the feet and floor sections of the original unstitched hand-painted canvas.
The feet are stitched with silk and metallic in a Bargello diamonds design. Threads used were Needlepoint Silk, Splendor and Kreinik Braid for the outline.
The step is worked in the Brick Bargello Filler stitch–horizontally for the top and small section under the carpet; and vertically for the side/under the step. I used a combination of brown Splendor Silk and Overdyed Floss to get a slightly worn wooden effect.
The carpet is worked in a Bargello Ogee design like the one in Day 27 of the 2010 Bargello Needlepoint Challenge. fringe was added at the end of the carpet near the step (to be cut after entire canvas is completed). Madiera Mouline Egyptian Cotton Embroidery Floss was used to stitch the carpet and fringe.
