My first ever needlepoint project was a Bargello pillow. I can still remember watching a co-worker stitching during lunch on needlepoint canvas something that looked like a flame of color. Each week day for about a month, she would spend 20 to 30 minutes stitching on her creative project.
Two weeks after that she brought in the finished needlepoint pillow to display proudly to all of us. I was hooked! I just had to learn to stitch a needlepoint pillow for myself. I boldly went up to her and asked if she would teach me how to stitch a Bargello needlepoint pillow of my own and to my delight she said, yes!
Now, many years later I still am in love with Bargello needlepoint. The endless patterns and color combinations that can be used to make a creative project still amaze me!
The speed and ease with which each creative project can be completed makes Bargello needlepoint an ideal fit for today’s fast paced lifestyle. Although I own lots of books about Bargello needlepoint or Florentine embroidery, I have the most fun designing my own creative projects.
