I admire Bargello needlepoint designers for their innate color sense, unconventional use of stitch patterns and unusual and creative design ideas.
Every serious designer of Bargello needlepoint has a distinctive vision. As you become familiar with a designer’s style, you’ll begin to notice little clues that help you discover this vision.
For example, Janet Perry’s audacious use of color, Bargello stitch techniques and motifs are present in every design she creates. Joyce Petschek’s modern designs
have distinguished her as one of the leading authorities on Bargello needlepoint.
These are just two of the “All Time Greats” when it comes to designing Bargello needlepoint. Others have contributed significantly to the development and enhancement of one of the most versatile forms of needlepoint: Dorothy Phelan, Margaret Boyles, Dorothy Kaestner and even more.
There’s a lot to be learned from their expertise, talent and knowledge. Here are three common takeaways:
— Color variation is the key to creative and inspiring Bargello needlepoint designs.
— Stitch length and breadth can be used to create movement and energy.
— Experimentation in Bargello needlepoint results in distinctive and unique designs.

Thanks for t he compliment, you should see the one I finished yesterday. I want to do one more along these lines to be sure the idea works before I make it public.
Keep Stitching,
Janet
