Whenever I pick up my copy of Bargello Stars, Shells, and Borders by Josephine Ruth Paine, I think of summertime and beaches. Watching needlepointed seashells, crabs, and seahorses come to life on canvas is a thrilling site for one who grew up near the ocean and spent most summers at the beach playing in the sand.
You can have a lot of summer fun with this book. It teaches you how to stitch mirror Bargello, four-way Bargello, and various borders including open and closed ones. There are over 50 needlepoint projects using these techniques as well as a basic primer for stitching Bargello needlepoint.
I purchased my copy several years ago, but there are still a few available in used book stores or at local needlepoint shops. The next time you see a copy of Bargello Stars, Shells, and Borders, grab it and add it to your Bargello needlepoint library.
