Bargello needlepoint key rings are quick and easy spur-of-the-moment gifts for those impromptu occasions when you just feel like blessing someone with a handmade item from your Bargello needlepoint stash. And, now with so many pre-finished accessories that can be purchased quite cheaply from your local discount department store, it’s easy to stitch and save them for future use.
It took about two hours to stitch this 1.75 x 2.75-inch Bargello needlepoint key ring to fit a plastic photo key ring that I purchased from Wal-Mart. Stitched on 18-mesh canvas with three colors of silk, two lines established the 4-1 step pattern to make the outside diamond shape; and then the centers were completed with varying lengths of filling stitches.
To finish the key ring, I trimmed the canvas close to the stitching, opened the plastic photo case and inserted the needlework on top of the sample paper so that a white background would hide the wrong side of the Bargello needlepoint.

wow! What a great, inexpensive idea!
