On one of many business trips to the Scottsdale AZ area, I had a chance to visit Quail Run Needleworks and spend an entire afternoon there. There were so many hand-painted needlepoint canvases, threads, fibers, finishing accessories, charts and stitch patterns that I felt overwhelmed! I quickly adjusted after the initial shock to my system and with the utmost delight I visually took in everything in the shop.
Quail Run Needleworks has been around for over 30 years and has gained a reputation as one of the nation’s premier needlework shops with stitching customers across the United States and around the world. If you live in the Scottsdale area or can travel there you can take advantage of classes taught by the most innovative and trend-setting teachers and designers from across the country, as well as participated in retreats throughout the year for needlepointers of all levels of ability and experience.
What makes this shop unique is that it works with numerous artists to bring their designs to needlepointers across the country and produces nearly 600 designs by 10 different artists through its own line of needlepoint, Quail Run Designs. The shop also supports Breast Cancer Awareness by collecting donated canvases, selling them to interested needlepointers, and then re-distributing the funds to the Breast Cancer Foundation.
While in the Valley of the Sun, I purchased several canvases and needlepoint supplies. The best purchase of all was this extra large painted canvas of a young Japanese woman getting dressed in a kimono. This particular design had been featured in the ANG magazine prior to my visit.
I encourage you to visit Quail Run Needleworks when you’re in the area at 8989 East Via Linda, #113 Scottsdale, AZ 85258 – Toll Free: (800)635-9750, or online.
