Bargello Requires No Artistic Ability

bargello, bargello needlepoint patterns, bargello needlepoint, 2010 Bargello Challenge, bargello patterns, bargello embroidery, needlepoint books, Bargello: An Explosion In Color, margaret boylesBeing able to draw and draw well is perfect for hand-painting needlepoint canvases; but Bargello needlepoint does not require artistic ability, and that’s good news for folks like me who can’t draw—not one bit!

Design Your Own

Bargello embroidery offers the perfect opportunity to design your own needlepoint projects and avoid fretting about a lack of artistic ability.

Since many of the designs are repeat geometric patterns that can be graphed or charted, you can create very attractive designs by charting parallel rows of stitches that are identical, or including alternate rows of different length stitches.

Use Bargello Needlepoint to Tell a Creative Story

Your Bargello needlepoint designs have a story to tell—a creative story. But that’s not all, the slopes and steps you use in your pattern, the assortment of stitches, special techniques, and color schemes will add their own statement of texture and movement and grab the attention of everyone who sees them.

    Downloaded a copy. Thanks.

And I’ve ordered a copy of the book where you found the pattern I asked about (can’t find that thread now!). So, again, thank you.

  3. Hello Christine,

PCStitch supports Bargello charting. I use it to create my designs. It is one of the more popular choices. There are two choices–standard and pro. The pro version gives you more needlepoint related custom stitches; but since Bargello charts are traditionally charted using colored boxes (like in cross stitch); the standard version works well. You can even download a FREE trial version. Check it out by clicking here.

    Keep on stitchin’ Bargello Needlepoint,
    Althea

What programs are available that support Bargello charting?

    Thx.
