Another name for Bargello needlepoint is “the long stitch” because of its simplicity and coverage over multiple canvas threads. This FREE Bargello needlepoint pattern by Su Mwamba of TangleCrafts showcases the long stitch extremely well. It’s called Bobbin Along and looks like a box of thread or bobbin spools.
Originally designed as an insert for a key chain, the pattern can be repeated to make a box top cover, pillow or other project. You can even add a border or two or combine with other Bargello stitch techniques to create a truly unique design. Bobbin Along is stitched on 18-mesh canvas using the full 6 strands of cotton floss.
