Christmas Eve & Bargello Needlepoint
The presents are wrapped, the Christmas tree has been decorated with Bargello Needlepoint Christmas Ornaments (by my three-year old granddaughter), the handmade needlepoint Christmas stockings are hung on the fireplace mantel and I’m baking a scrumptious fruitcake. Um….I love the Christmas holiday season and the smell of baking and cooking wafting from the kitchen.
While the fruitcake is baking, I’m snatching a few minutes of stitching time–nothing new, just plugging away at a hand-painted canvas design I’ve been working on for the last three years. It’s times like these that I stitch on items like this one (a tic-tac toe board with lighthouse designs). Irish Christmas songs are playing softly in the background, my husband is engrossed in the latest mystery novel, and the house is quiet for a change.
I’ve paused for a moment to reflect on the meaning of Christmas and to write this post (I always keep my laptop nearby). I hope you take some time today from the hustle and bustle of last minute shopping, parties and gatherings with family and friends to think about the First Christmas so long ago and its message and personal meaning: “Good News…Good News…Christ Is Born Today”.
Have A Merry Christmas!
