One of the things I like about the book, Bargello: An Explosion In Color by Margaret Boyles, is that each main design is usually followed by one or more variations; which makes it quite interesting and fun to stitch.
The 4-1 step in this compact Bargello needlepoint design that’s found on page 52, offers a world of possibilities for colors and effect.
In the past, I’ve used a slight variation of this design for small projects like wallet inserts, luggage tags and other items. What’s different about this Bargello embroidery pattern is the way the color is placed to fill the center stitches.
You can have loads of fun with color combinations. Since I was a bit tired of using greens, so I chose three shades of gold.
