There are more detailed instructions for working this Bargello pattern, found on pp. 30,31 and 67 in Designs for Bargello by Nikki Scheuer.
Adapted from an 18th century Central Asian Turkoman Beshir Rug, it includes several alternating single large and small diamonds, as well as large twin peak diamond motifs.
When 18th century colors of azure blues, medium to rust orange, and white are used, the Bargello design is quite stunning! I used Silk n’ Ivory in several of these colors, and an overdyed Watercolours to work the design.

Beshir rugs are named for the Ersari-Beshir tribe, which is a tribal unit in the Central Asian Turkoman region. These rugs are usually distinguished by repetitive floral and paisley patterns. |
