Today’s design has a three-dimensional effect, which is created by working a light color on the top, dark color on the left, and a medium or bright color on the right.
The 4-2 step Bargello pattern is found on pp. 32-33 in Designs for Bargello by Nikki Scheuer, with the color photo on page 69.
According to Nikki Scheuer’s research, the Turkish brickwork dates from the 13th century and was used in the decoration of a religious school, under the patronage of Huand Hatun, the daughter of a Seljuk prince.
I used Silk n’ Ivory in black, white and medium gray to work the design and create an eye-catching 3-D effect.
