It’s springtime and everything is blooming–even this Bargello design found on pp. 34-35 and 70 in Designs for Bargello by Nikki Scheuer.
The 4-2 step Bargello pattern is inspired by a 16th century French brocade that graced a beautiful piece of furniture.
The flowers are reversed between the flame stitch outlines for every other pattern segment.
In keeping with the season, I used yellow, green and pink #3 DMC Perle Coton and a beautiful variegated daffodil Watercolours thread.

Brocade is a heavy fabric that has an interwoven raised design. The flowers in today’s Bargello design would have been raised on the fabric used to upholster a piece of 1th century French furniture. |
