Bargello diamonds are a girl’s best friend; so stay with me…I’m going to be in diamond patterns for a while.
This easy 4-1 step Bargello diamond pattern, found on p. 55 in Bargello: An Explosion In Color by Margaret Boyles, has a lovely surprise in the center.
Each diamond is stitched as a stand-alone unit from the outside in, with the final stitch worked as a double cross stitch in the center instead of the more traditional straight stitch.
Three colors were used in the design: Silk and Ivory dark green, rust and cream for the first inner diamond and the double cross stitch.
Margaret was right…this little detail (the double cross stitch) did add to the interest of an otherwise plain Bargello pattern!
