Today’s Bargello Challenge design was inspired by an 18th century textile of an Okinawa landscape.
Found on pp. 106-107 in Designs for Bargello by Nikki Scheuer with color photo on page 80, this 4-2 step Bargello curvature pattern uses 7 or more colors.
The Bargello pattern is worked by first stitching the foreground and background mountain outlines, followed by the mountain fills, and then stitching the sides with colorful stripes.
This time I used a combination of Paternayan Persian Yarn and Silk n’ Ivory thread to work the design.

Sara, I hope you aren’t too disappointed about the delay of your holiday. What a wonderful gift from your friend! You’ll enjoy stitching with S & I threads, and this design is absolutely perfect for them. Althea
This piece is stunning! My holiday has been delayed by 4 days due to Icelandic volcanic ash … hence I have seen this piece today and think I will definitely have a go at something similar on my return with the gorgeous Silk & Ivory threads which I have been given by a kind friend! The design looks very tricky and will be hard to chart without the book I daresay!
Best wishes,
Sara
