Today’s design was used on an ornamental basket from the Lower Congo.

The Bargello Chevron pattern is formed with a 4-2 step by starting in the center of the canvas, and reversing direction every other motif.

The pattern is found on pp. 120-121 in Designs for Bargello by Nikki Scheuer, and the color photo is on page 71.

Silk n’ Ivory threads and Rainbow Gallery’s Watercolours were used to work the design.
