Day 143: Bargello Design Adapted from West African Woven Raffia

The Bargello pattern was adapted from 18th century finely woven raffia made by the Bushonga Tribe in West Africa.

Only the center portion of the 4-2 step design has been worked for the 3″ square sample; but the color photo on page 74 shows the full design in all its glory.

I worked the entire piece in Silk n’ Ivory threads.
