New Bargello book…new set of Bargello needlepoint designs!
Today’s Bargello pattern is taken from Florentine Embroidery by Barbara Muller.
The book may be a bit hard to find; but if you click on the link in this post or in the sidebar you may be able to get a used copy.
The 3-1 step Bargello pattern found on page 16 is one of four small practice pieces that can be used to teach beginners or for small projects like coasters, wallet inserts, etc.
It is a flame design, which I stitched with an overdyed Caron Watercolours, Silk n’ Ivory, and Rainbow Gallery’s Cashmere threads.

Hello Marlene, I like to use Paternayan Yarns for my Bargello pillows and projects. It is Persian wool. Althea
I HAVE YOUR FLORENTINE EMBROIDERY BOOK WHICH IS LOVELY. CAN YOU PLEASE ADVISE ME WHAT MAKE OF EMBROIDERY WOOL YOU USE FOR THE PROJECTS IN THIS BOOK AS IAM FINDING DIFFICULTY IN MATCHING THE COLOURS WITH ANCHOR WOOLS. MANY THANKS.
No worries! It’s a pleasure to provide some feedback to such a great site!
I’m really glad you are back to the traditional patterns (I’m a historical embroiderer).
Hello Elmsley, I truly appreciate your comments and feedback. About the pictures, I fixed 145 and 146. The thumbprint problem is a software glitch I’m not able to correct. I will use a lighter resolution when taking pics for future posts. Again, thanks for taking the time to let me know about it. It’s readers like you who help to keep the site running smoothly! Althea
Looking at 6.30am, Australia time,
145,
146,
114?, (thumbprint murcky but image in post fine),
97? (another mucky thumbnail), and
103.
I hope this is useful to you – I only mean to help on what is a great site! I visit every day.
The photos have been lightened. Thanks again, Althea
Thanks for the feedback. The threads used to stitch the design are dark shades; plus I changed the lighting a bit to correct the color after taking the picture. I’ll lighten the photos a bit. Can you let me know which designs are affected? Althea
Hi,
Ive noticed the last few photos have been really dark? I can’t really see the pattern on them.
