When seen from a distance and worked for large Bargello projects, this Bargello design has a fluid look. It looks like a ribbon banner waving in a breeze.
Found on pp. 20-21 in Florentine Embroidery by Barbara Muller, the 5-1 step Bargello line design uses the Gobelin Droit Bargello Filler Stitch throughout.
I used 6 different shades of silk including Kreinik Silk Mori, Needlepoint Silk, Silk ‘n Colors by The Thread Gatherer, and Silk Impressions by Stef Francis.

Florentine embroidery looks particularly elegant when it is worked very finely with silk embroidery floss on even-weave fabric like Congress Cloth. |
