Day 165: Swirls and Flames Bargello Design

Florentine embroidery, bargello, bargello needlepoint patterns, bargello needlepoint, free bargello patterns, bargello stitch, 2010 Bargello Challenge, bargello patterns, bargello embroidery, bargello needlework, needlepoint books, Barbara MullerWhen worked in the full Bargello pattern, this design has a 3-D look. The swirls appear to stand out from the canvas while the flames provide a background anchor.

The 4-2 step Bargello line design is found on pp. 48-49 in Florentine Embroidery by Barbara Muller, and has great project potential.

The swirls can be modified and worked as a Bargello border, belt, luggage strap; and the entire design would look lovely as a rectangular shaped throw cushion.

I used Silk n’ Ivory and J. L. Walsh Silk Wool to work the design.
