Day 166: Creased Bargello Needlepoint Design

When embroidered on a large project surface, this Bargello needlepoint line design looks as if it has been creased in certain places.

Found on pp. 50-51 in Florentine Embroidery by Barbara Muller, the 4-2 step pattern can be worked in either diagonal direction across the canvas. And what’s great about it is that the step remains constant throughout–no changing of individual stitches!

I used Silk n’ Ivory in the recommended colors to work the design.

I had no idea that one could create so many interesting and varied Bargello needlepoint line designs. However, Barbara Muller proved that there is no limit to one’s creative Bargello needlework design imagination.
