Day 166: Creased Bargello Needlepoint Design

Florentine embroidery, bargello, bargello needlepoint patterns, bargello needlepoint, free bargello patterns, bargello stitch, 2010 Bargello Challenge, bargello patterns, bargello embroidery, bargello needlework, needlepoint books, Barbara MullerWhen embroidered on a large project surface, this Bargello needlepoint line design looks as if it has been creased in certain places.

Found on pp. 50-51 in Florentine Embroidery by Barbara Muller, the 4-2 step pattern can be worked in either diagonal direction across the canvas. And what’s great about it is that the step remains constant throughout–no changing of individual stitches!

I used Silk n’ Ivory in the recommended colors to work the design.
