Although elegant and beautiful, traditional Hungarian Point Bargello designs can be very tricky and time-consuming–at least I find them so.
This design, found on pp.56-57 in Florentine Embroidery by Barbara Muller, is a perfect example of the traditional way to work Hungarian Point.
The Bargello pattern is made up of 10 rows which can be repeated across the canvas to fit any size project. Particular attention must be paid to EACH row.
Even though it was a bit tricky to stitch, the color changes made working this design loads of fun. I used 6 shades of Silk n’ Ivory threads.
