Found on pp. 60-61 in Florentine Embroidery by Barbara Muller, the Bargello pattern is worked from bottom right to top left (left-handers work from bottom left to top right), and uses 10 different colors.

I used an assortment of silks to work the design including Vineyard Silk, Splendor, Silk Mori, J. L. Walsh Silk and Needlepoint Silk.

Interesting Tidbit: Florentine Embroidery

Once the initial Bargello pattern line is established, it’s easy to stitch the rest of the embroidery across the needlepoint canvas.
