When worked over a large project area, this Bargello needlepoint ogee design, found on pp. 74-75 in Florentine Embroidery by Barbara Muller, looks deep and mysterious.
The reason is the placement of the 6 to 7 colors and the fine shading of each ogee’s monochromatic scheme.
Additionally, the Bargello ogee pattern is fairly tight (there are 3 multiples of each stitch segment except for the 6 stitch group at the top and bottom sides).
I used silk threads for this project: Silk Mori, Needlepoint Silk, and Vineyard Silk.

Barbara Muller has created both versatile and stunning designs in this book…many that are variations on traditional Bargello pattern themes. |

Hello Jill, I know how you feel. It wasn’t until I started the 365 day Bargello Challenge that I found many designs I thought I had made up to be traditional Bargello patterns. Althea
I used to make sofa pillows with this design. I thought I’d made it up. I was so disappointed when I found it in not one, not two, but several books on Bargello!!! Oh well.
