There are many facets of the color gray; and this Bargello Flame design found on pp. 78-79 in Florentine Embroidery by Barbara Muller demonstrates how a simple flame pattern, stitched in 6 shades of gray, can transform ordinary needlepoint into a Bargello masterpiece!
The designer recommends using 8 different complementary colors; but since gray is one of my favorite colors, I couldn’t resist sending you a creative message of peace, wisdom and understanding with Silk n’ Ivory threads in a monochromatic color scheme.
The Bargello pattern looks best when worked in a 6-1 step, and is great for large projects like chair seat covers, stools or floor pillows.

Although this Bargello pattern is worked in a traditional flame stitch, the designer adds her own touch with color and step. |
