This Bargello line design has a 6-1 step that produces elegant long stitches.
Found on page 76 in Bargello Magic by Pauline Fischer and Anabel Lasker, it is stitched from the top left-hand corner of the canvas downward.
To make color changes easier, thread a tapestry needle for each color you use.
The Bargello pattern is called “Denim Days” because of the textured threads and contrasting colors worked by the original artists.
I used Silk n’ Ivory and a subtle overdyed J.L. Walsh Silk Wool thread to stitch the entire Bargello design.
