Today’s Bargello Challenge design, found on page 88 in Bargello Magic by Pauline Fischer and Anabel Lasker, was adapted from Persian grillwork and uses complementary colors to make it come to life.
The Bargello pattern has a 4-2 step with a small repeat. There’s a lot going on with this design including three distinct motifs. Blocks of stitches vary in number in the repeats and stitches frequently share canvas meshes.
I used Silk n’ Ivory and subtle overdyed J.L. Walsh Silk Wool to stitch the Bargello design.

When stitching this design, work the Bargello pattern outline first to master the repeat, because the centers of the motifs vary in their filler stitches. |
