Day 189: Persian Grill Bargello Needlepoint Design

bargello, bargello needlepoint, bargello designs, free bargello patterns, bargello patterns, 2010 Bargello Challenge, bargello stitch, needlepoint books, Bargello Magic, Pauline Fischer, Anabel LaskerToday’s Bargello Challenge design, found on page 88 in Bargello Magic by Pauline Fischer and Anabel Lasker, was adapted from Persian grillwork and uses complementary colors to make it come to life.

The Bargello pattern has a 4-2 step with a small repeat. There’s a lot going on with this design including three distinct motifs. Blocks of stitches vary in number in the repeats and stitches frequently share canvas meshes.

I used Silk n’ Ivory and subtle overdyed  J.L. Walsh Silk Wool to stitch the Bargello design.
