It’s amazing how a simple feather can inspire a beautiful Bargello needlepoint design.
This intermediate-level Bargello pattern found on page 94 in Bargello Magic by Pauline Fischer and Anabel Lasker, is centered on the bottom of the canvas and worked upright to the left.
It has a 4-1 step that is stitched horizontally and vertically with a 5 stitch group pattern repeat. The intersection of the stitches are covered with a 1-5 step stitch.
You only need two colors for this design. Complementary schemes work best. I used Silk n’ Ivory to work the Bargello design.

The Bargello pattern is worked over the entire canvas first; and then compensating stitches are filled in around the edges. |
