Day 197: Strawberry Fields Bargello Needlepoint Design

bargello, bargello needlepoint, bargello designs, free bargello patterns, bargello patterns, 2010 Bargello Challenge, bargello stitch, needlepoint books, Bargello Magic, Pauline Fischer, Anabel LaskerThis Bargello needlepoint design uses silk and metallic threads to create the illusion of juicy ripe strawberries that are ready for picking.

To work the Bargello pattern found on page 100 in Bargello Magic by Pauline Fischer and Anabel Lasker, stitch the dark read outlines first and then fill in the other colors.

The metallic background is worked last with the thread doubled in the needle.

Please note the alternating motifs used to work the strawberries.

I did not use silk this time; instead I worked the design in Silk n’ Ivory reds, green and brown for the “dirt” between rows of strawberries.
