Day 198: Country Cousins Bargello Needlepoint Design

bargello, bargello needlepoint, bargello designs, free bargello patterns, bargello patterns, 2010 Bargello Challenge, bargello stitch, needlepoint books, Bargello Magic, Pauline Fischer, Anabel LaskerA very interesting Bargello needlepoint design with monochromatic harmonies that bring to mind the colors of the countryside.

The Bargello pattern found on page 101 in Bargello Magic by Pauline Fischer and Anabel Lasker, starts in the center of the canvas and is worked outward to the right and then left.

Country Cousins Bargello needlepoint has mostly a 6-1 step. The center motif has an assortment of steps and colors. When the entire design is completed a horizontal stitch in bright red is worked in a running stitch across the blocks of two stitches.

I used Silk n’ Ivory to work the design.

Interesting Tidbit: Bargello Magic

bargello, bargello needlepoint, bargello designs, free bargello patterns, bargello patterns, 2010 Bargello Challenge, bargello stitch, needlepoint books, Bargello Magic, Pauline Fischer, Anabel Lasker Maple sugar, spruce trees, and red berries provide the color key for Country Cousins. The design assumes a formal feeling when worked in brilliant blues and greens with a white or gray silk center for the niche.
