Taken from Bargello: An Explosion In Color p. 42, this design is a simple repeated scallop. It can be easily changed by varying color and the number of peaks and valleys.
Four colors were used in this design: Evergreen and Willow from The Gentle Art Sampler Threads, and Heraldic Gold and Marigold from Needlepoint Inc. Silk. They reminded me of coming Spring.
On a humorous note…when I showed the completed design to my husband, in addition to the praise and “oohs and ahs” I’ve taught him to say whenever he is presented with my needlework; he offered that it would be a great idea if I were to save all the Spring, Summer and Fall colors to be stitched during those seasons! Is he kidding? That would be too much “anal-retention”–even for me!
