This is the last Bargello diamond pattern in Margaret Boyles’ Bargello: An Explosion In Color (pp.64-65). Hooray, tomorrow I will get to stitch a new type of design; but then…I’m getting a little ahead of myself!
Today’s Bargello needlepoint design uses three colors and is a little bolder than previous diamond patterns because of the double row of burgundy stitches outlining the large diamonds. The other colors are royal blue and gold.
Instead of stitching the large diamond outline first, you must work the double row, and then the rest of the outline. After that, there’s no need to count; just fill in the brick stitch and the 4-2 step design is complete.
This pattern reminds me of a sweater vest my father used to wear…in the exact same color scheme. Although he didn’t favor a lot of vibrant or bold colors, he wore it anyway because it was a Christmas gift from my mom.

I found a copy of An Explosion in Color online at Mountain Laurel Books for $8.00 in perfect condition and can’t wait to try Bargello as soon as I finish a couple of other projects. Your New Year’s resolution is so much more interesting than a diet and I’m sure your willpower is inspiring many!

Viewing your site got me to thinking. Although I could not stitch a pattern every day, I couldonce a month. Then, I read one of your suggestions to do just that..great minds. I will try it.
