A clever treatment of four-way Bargello needlepoint is the focus of today’s Challenge design. The four sections combine to form a beautiful cabbage rose adapted from Chintz fabric and designed by Shirley Delph for the Bargello American Chintz Collection.
When worked in pastel monochromatic shades, this Bargello pattern brings the magical colors of summer roses to a repeat Bargello design that’s great for a pillow. You can even stitch one motif for a small box cover or coaster.
I used Madeira Mouline Egyptian Cotton Hand Embroidery Floss to work the Bargello design.

Shape and dimension are created by mitering each individual rose. When working this design for a pillow, randomly place the roses on the canvas so they look like a bouquet. |
