Reminiscent of a decorative oriental cloisonné pattern, this Imari bargello needlepoint band is worked before filling in a four-way flame stitch motif.
Found on pp. 40-41 in Bargello Stars, Shells and Borders by Josephine Ruth Paine, simple bargello ogee motifs are used in creative ways to create the bargello border, which is the centerpiece for this design.
I used Splendor Silk for the shimmering background fill, and Madeira Mouline Egyptian Cotton Hand Embroidery Thread to work the Bargello band.
