In the Galaxy Bargello Needlepoint Design, a cosmic spectacle of small, medium and large four-way star motifs are showcased on top of a Bargello background.
Due to the large size of the entire bargello pattern, I worked only the central star motif for today’s Challenge design.
Found on pp. 75-77 in Bargello Stars, Shells and Borders by Josephine Ruth Paine, the 4-2 step diagonal, vertical and horizontal stitches in the bargello stars use colors that are reminiscent of day-lilies in the summer. I used Splendor and Needlepoint Silk to make the shimmering cenral star, and Caron’s Watercolours to work the Brick Bargello Filler Stitch background.

The Galaxy bargello background can also be worked in a four-way shimmering design by alternating medium and light colored threads. |
