The giant flame Bargello pattern is most often found in Colonial needlework–specifically on chair seats. This pattern is quite versatile and adapts equally well to contemporary or traditional items from book covers, to costumes to home decor.
Taken from Bargello: An Explosion In Color p. 38, this design has distinctive peaks of 15 (4-2 step) repeats. Smaller valley peaks keep it from being the traditional flame pattern.
I used to live close to the Wasatch Range of the Rocky Mountains in the Western United States. This design reminds me of the mountain-filled skyline of one of my favorite cities.
Three colors were used in this design: Splendor Silk #986, Overdyed Floss #171, and J. L. Walsh Silk String #60073. They made quite an interesting effect–kind of earth-toned and wintery; and…I luvvvv it! That’s said the way the Dragon Tales character, “Weezie” says it–full of high-pitched passion!

Thanks Nancy, I’m having a lot of fun stitching them…so far. Althea
I’m really enjoying your daily bargello designs. You’ve taken on a big challenge. I look forward to the coming examples!
