Day 40: A Quirky Bargello Pattern

It is therefore quite important to work an outline first, paying careful attention to the step changes that occur in unlikely places.

Found on pp. 94-95 of Bargello: An Explosion In Color by Margaret Boyles, it is a lot of fun to experiment with colors and textures to get different looks.

Expect to stitch 4-2, 6-2 and even 8-2 steps.

I used Silk n’ Ivory threads from Brown Paper Packages. It is not available for direct online purchase from Brown Paper Packages; you must purchase it from an online retail needlepoint store or your local needlepoint shop.

  1. Yoyo, you’re welcome and I know exactly what you mean because I had to start over many times just working the small sample. It’s good to know that you are having loads of stitchin’ fun! Althea

  2. Yoyo says:

Back before I knew one should make that first full outline with Bargellos I used this design for a checkbook cover — I had to start my design 4 or 5 times before I got it right. That ‘outline’ is an important step!

This is fun, revisiting Ms. Boyles book again, thanks for the entertainment (LOL).
