There’s no question that 4-1 step patterns tend to trip me up when working Bargello needlepoint. I seem to forget that there’s anything else but 4-2 step.
When stitching this design, I had to start all over two times before I got the “hang of it”.
This pattern found on page 98 of Bargello: An Explosion In Color by Margaret Boyles, is another 4-1 step Bargello project that has alternating shapes to make a simple but attractive design.
I used six shades of Madeira Cotton Hand Embroidery Floss from two different color families (green and peach/rust); but as the book suggests, you can use fewer shades if two or more are repeated.
