This Florentine Embroidery pattern introduces the advanced Bargello design section in Bargello: An Explosion In Color by Margaret Boyles (pp. 106-107).
It has a 6-1 step with dual-stitch length that creates a secondary pattern and makes stitching more complicated than previous designs in the 2010 Bargello Challenge. When worked all in one color, you get a brocaded effect as the secondary pattern becomes more prominent.
I love the way silk threads look when working this Bargello pattern; so I used Madeira’s SILK hand embroidery thread in orange, and three monochromatic shades of yellow. Although somewhat hard to find, Madeira’s hand embroidery threads can be purchased online at Sewing & Craft Club.
