It’s only been 5 days and I’ve already changed the Bargello Challenge rules! I know I said that I would stitch 3″ squares but this design could not be shown on just three inches (it’s 98 stitches wide); so I made it 6″ x 2″ instead–just enough to show the “domes and spires” and display the beautiful colors.
Bargello Domes and Spires is a vintage needlepoint pattern that was adapted by Margaret Boyles to show how easy it is to stitch Bargello once you’ve established a foundation row. The design chart is found on page 44 in Bargello: An Explosion In Color. In case you haven’t noticed, I’ll be in this book for quite some time…lot’s of designs.
Bargello Domes and Spires combines the scallops and flame patterns that were stitched on the previous four days.
I used five colors: Silk and Ivory #14-Burgundy, #11-Really Red, and #108-Pesto; Needlepoint Silk #Med Olive Green, and Splendor Silk #S962-Very Light Olive Green.
On a side note, this pattern would be great on a belt!
