This Bargello design is considered to be “very advanced” because it is quite intricate and MUST BE carefully counted from the chart–no guesswork here!
I spent 4 hours on it (started stitching at 6 AM and didn’t finish until 10 AM)! In all that time I was only able to complete one of the motifs and two of the connectors. Now, I’m not a slow stitcher as you can well imagine–considering the 2010 Bargello Challenge I’ve undertaken; but this Bargello pattern really stumped me!
Nevertheless, I did persevere and here is the result!
Talk about being “very original”…this Bargello pattern on pp. 120-121 in Bargello: An Explosion In Color, is not only beautiful but includes two quite interesting motifs.
To really get a “feel” for the Bargello design and showcase the motifs, I worked and re-worked the pattern (which calls for three different stitch lengths–over two, four and six threads) in order to present a pleasing design. I’m absolutely sure I’ll not stitch this one again.
Soft colors are recommended and I used four different shades of Silk n’ Ivory threads to work the design.

It is beautiful, though, regardless of all the work necessary to bring it off.

Thanks Jane,
I guess I shouldn’t complain. After all, it is a tribute of love to my father. Thanks for reminding me of this fact (smile). Althea
