Day 57: Four-Way Domes and Spires Bargello Design

“Domes and Spires” is an old favorite design among Bargello needlepointers. It was used to stitch Day 5’s Bargello Challenge Design, but takes on a totally new look when mitered and stitched in four sections.

The pattern and color photo can be found on pp. 128-129 in Bargello: An Explosion In Color by Margaret Boyles.

This Bargello design is adaptable to a variety of sizes and can be altered by adding or subtracting rows at the outer edges. When stitched in a 3″ to 4″ square, it looks like “X marks the spot” on a treasure map.

I used two shades of gray and one very light mauve Silk n’ Ivory threads and one a corresponding Watercolours thread from The Caron Collection.
