Bargello needlepoint doesn’t have to be complicated. Some of the most beautiful designs have simple lines.
This design, featured on page 46 of Bargello: An Explosion In Color is proof of how a simple 4-1 step stitch married with fun colors can make an exciting Bargello needlepoint project…except that I stitched it with a 4-2 step…oops! I guess the automatic default for me (4-2) must have kicked in; but it’s still quite exciting and effective.
I’ve used six bright shades of Silk and Ivory thread: Turquoise (2), Gold (2), and Peach (2). Of all the designs I’ve stitched so far, this one is my granddaughter, Gabby’s, favorite (it’s the bright turquoise and peach I think); who when first seeing it exclaimed, “Ooo… Mimi, it’s pre…tty!”
