The Flame Stitch pattern is never outdated. Dorothy Phelan created this variation on pp. 42-43 in Traditional Bargello.
She designed it for an eyeglass case and includes pattern chart and instructions.
The 4-1 step provides complete canvas coverage and allows for a wide variety of color schemes.
I used Silk n’ Ivory threads in two shades of purple and two shades of peach.
Interesting Tidbit about Dorothy Phelan

Thanks Deb,
Let me know how your pillow tops turn out. I would love to feature them on the site as part of the Bargello challenge! Althea
I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your website. I’m doing a bargello challenge of my own…two pillow tops a month. You’ve been an inspiration.
