This Bargello pattern is a copy of an old Florentine flower pattern.
Found on pp. 90-91 in Traditional Bargello by Dorothy Phelan, the flower is worked with a 4-2 step, and the background uses the Bargello Brick Filler Stitch.
If desired, a simple diamond-shaped trellis or repeating Florentine pattern can be worked in the background area to “frame” the flower.
I used six shades of Silk n’ Ivory to work the design.
