The authors of Golden Hands Bargello describe this design as an interesting, interlacing trellis which needs close concentration to establish the basic lines.
Found on pp. 20-21, the Bargello pattern is worked in a 4-2 step from the vertical center of the canvas outward. The center diamond is stitched first and the trellis is worked until you reach another center diamond; which should then be stitched. Working the design this way keeps the trellis lines in sync with the pattern chart.
I used a combination of Silk n’ Ivory and Persian yarns in several monochromatic shades of red to stitch the trellis, and white for the center diamonds.
