It’s time for a new Bargello pattern book–Designs for Bargello by Nikki Scheuer.
According to the book’s dust jacket, it is the “quintessential book for bargelloists, whether they’re old hands at needlecraft or mere amateurs in the field–a boon for all enthusiasts (men and women alike) who have long since exhausted the limited resources of available needlepoint patterns.”
Today’s design, found on pp.14-15, is adapted from a 19th century Japanese Stencil cutting that reminds one of waves and the sea, celebrating the Japanese love of nature.
The design is worked from the midpoint of the right edge of the canvas instead of the center.
At least three monochromatic shades of one color should be used along with two accent colors.
I used Twedie 18, Paternayan Persian Wool Yarn, and Silk n’ Ivory to stitch the design.
