CAUTION:
Bargello Needlepoint
Causes Stitching Fever!
While taking an inventory of my needlepoint stash to determine if I would have enough threads, canvas and other supplies to complete the 2010 Bargello Challenge, I came across several hand-painted needlepoint canvases of historical figures–specifically Henry VIII and two of his wives, Catherine Parr and Jane Seymour.
There is now no doubt that I am a Bargello needlepoint fanatic; for the idea came to me to stitch these canvases in as many Bargello patterns and stitches as possible–hence, the category “Everything Bargello”.
With this as my mantra, from time to time I will highlight progress on my efforts to get the hand-painted canvases in my stash actually finished (in my lifetime) by stitching everything in Bargello (no pressure).
Now, before you think I have become obsessed, let me assure you that this will be solely based on when the creative juices are flowing to actually work on the project; so don’t expect to see regular reports–only reports based on bursts of stitching frenzy directed exclusively to work on a particular “Everything Bargello” project.

I am enjoying reading about your progress on the Bargello Challenge. I live here in Georgia too — north of Atlanta — in Canton. I am also an English history buff and a big fan of anything Tudor. Where, oh where, did you ever find a canvas of Henry VIII and the 2 wives?
Keep up the good work!
Hello Jan, I hope everything is “peachy” with you! I found all three canvases through a needlepoint shop in Salt Lake City, Utah about 12 years ago. As you can see, I’m just getting around to doing something with them. I also love English history–that’s why I had to have them once I saw the display. Thanks for the encouragement on the Bargello Challenge! Althea
What a clever idea. I will really look forward to a few of these updates. “Regular” designs done in bargello will be a very interesting thing to see.
(But if you keep showing us so many beautiful things I’m going to have to pull out my long neglected bargello tote just to get the itch out of my fingers.)
